In Pfunds in Tirol Oberland, sheep run down the village streets for the annual Sheep Drive in September. While the woolies are sheared, visitors celebrate their homecoming over live music and mutton specialties.
The farmers are moving about 400 mountain sheep from their summer grazing grounds to the winter stables down in the valley. The herds are expected to arrive at Ensplatz Square in the village of Pfunds by 10:00am. Highlighted by the running of sturdy locally-bred woolies charging down the village streets, this event also features live music and dance, along with culinary delicacies, such as grilled mutton specialties. The sheep will be sheared in the meantime.
