Sölden in Ötztal Valley comes alive on September 22, 2019 for the great sheep drive. The farmers are moving their sheep to the winter stables and are welcomed with a village fair and a shepherd’s ball.
In 2019, the Sölden Sheep Festival celebrates its 75th anniversary with early morning entertainment, starting at 09:00am. Highlighted by the running of sturdy locally-bred woolies charging down the village streets, this event also features a parade, an exhibition, live music and dance. The most beautiful sheep will be awarded prizes around 1:00pm.
The daylong event is highlighted by the finest local chefs dishing up Ötztal mountain lamb specialties and by a farmer’s market. To end the fun filled day, don’t miss the evening shepherd’s ball with live music and prize giving at the marquee, starting at 8:00pm.
