Inner Ötztal Valley rounds up the herds each year in September on two occasions, for the cattle drive in Zwieselstein and the great sheep drive in Sölden.
The colorful spectacle that is the cattle drive in Zwieselstein near Sölden starts at 11:00am on September 10, 2023. There will be live music entertainment by the Sölden Brass Band. The festively decorated cows are expected to arrive in the village around 1:00pm. To entertain the crowds that line up the streets, there will be live music and folklore dancing. Food and drink is provided for on a farmer’s market.
Some two weeks later, on September 23, 2023, the Sölden Sheep Festival is celebrated at the heart of the village with early morning entertainment and live music, starting at 09:00am. Highlighted by the running of sturdy locally-bred woolies charging down the village streets, this event also features a parade, an exhibition (at 10:00am), live music and dance. The most beautiful sheep will be awarded prizes around 1:00pm.
