200 years of music history are celebrated with the wonderful “Sound of the Alps” exhibition on Fügen Castle and at the Local Heritage Museum in Fügen, telling the enticing story of “Silent Night, Holy Night”.
Translated into over 300 languages and dialects, the world’s most famous Christmas carol is sung on all continents. 2018 marks two centuries since the song has first been performed: Silent Night! Holy Night!” found its way into the world from Tirol’s Zillertal Valley. The Rainer Family Singers from Fügen were chiefly responsible for spreading the song throughout Europe, Russia and the Unites States of America.
The special exhibition “Sound of the Alps” chronicles the enticing story of “Silent Night, Holy Night”, the world’s most famous Christmas carol at 50 exhibition spaces on Fügen Castle and at the Local Heritage Museum at Widumspfiste. Visitors can retrace how “Silent Night” was developed and spread across Europe and the whole world.
