Bike Trail Tirol Stage 28: Wenns - Pillerhöhe - Landeck

This stage covers about 19 kilometers and 600 meters of altitude gain. Two thirds of the trail are asphalt cycleways, the remaining third travels on gravel or hiking paths. The highest point of the tour is Pillerhöhe Saddle at 1559 meters above sea level, connecting Pitztal Valley to upper Inntal Valley.

  • In Wenns you follow the asphalt side road leading uphill to Pillerhöhe Saddle. A steep gravel path takes you downhill to Fließ where you reach the renowned Via Claudia Augusta long-distance cycle route.
  • In the past, Via Claudia Augusta Roman Road used to be one of the most important trade routes between the Adriatic Sea and the Danube River area. Today you can follow the secret tracks of history on this wonderful cycle route.
  • On both fascinating and quite easy trails you head towards Fließer Platte and Landeck Castle, a great vista point overlooking the lively town.
  • This stretch of the stage has already been a part of the legendary Bike Transalp Challenge, leading across the Alps in eight stages and comprising only the cream of alpine bike routes.
