Bike Trail Tirol Stage 14: Westendorf - Alpbach

A great route for action-filled biking adventures on no less than 36.5 kilometers, leading from Westendorf to renowned Alpbach on mostly well-maintained forest trails. There is only one short section where you must push the bike.

  • The first part of this route travels along the main road to Windautal Valley, a peaceful side valley of Brixental, leading to Lendwirt Inn located on the shore of Windauer Ache mountain brook.
  • From Hopfgarten to Mühltal the path is permanently rising: leaving behind Thierbach the quite steep trail switchbackes up to 1680 meters above sea level.
  • Pedaling past the mountain inn and pasture area, you follow "Oberer Höhenweg" high-altitude path to the village center of Alpbach (2600 inhabitants). Due to its exceptional architecture and the wonderful flowers decorating the wooden farmhouses, the village was awarded "Austria's most beautiful village" and "Europe's most beautiful flower village".
