Route description for cyclists and handbike riders: The ride starts at the car park in front of the Fürstenhaus. Turn right and ride towards the Karwendeltäler Valleys. After 500 metres of gentle uphill riding you will reach a fork in the road towards the Karwendeltäler Valleys. After 1.2 kilometres you will reach the toll booth. From here the toll road leads gently uphill to the Gramai Alm hut, with a few steep sections of up to 14% (only 50 metres in length). All in all this is a mountain ride which requires good fitness levels but is well worth the effort thanks to the beautiful surroundings.
Tip! In summer the Gasthaus Gramai Alm serves fresh milk and whey drinks as well as homemade butter and cheese on traditional brown bread.
Riders should take the same route back to the starting point. Alternatively, they can continue up to the Gernalm hut. Important! The whole route is on tarmac roads. However, please be careful when crossing the cattle grids on the way back down.
Handbike rating: This handbike ride from Lake Achensee to the Gramai Alm is for experienced riders with good fitness levels. Overall the gradient is moderate, though it does include a number of steep sections.
