This bike and handbike ride starts in Sillian and leads along the well-signposted and well.maintained Drau Cycle Path to the village of Amlach near Lienz, the largest town in East Tirol. Despite measuring an impressive 57km in length, it is relatively easy to ride thanks to the fact there there are only 400 vertical metres of climbing from start to finish. There are a few steep sections on the way back, but riders with a good level of fitness should be able to overcome these without any problems.

Trail description
Route description for cyclists and handcyclists
The starting point is next to the Sporthotel in Sillian. Behind the hotel there is a road leading to the Drau Cycle Path, which is just 500 metres from the hotel. The first few kilometres are totally flat, but overall there is a slight downhill gradient between Sillian and Amlach. The Gasthaus Waldschenke in Amlach, which serves food and has a very pretty garden, marks the half-way point at which riders turn around. On the way back there is a slight uphill gradient. Around km 50 there are a few steeper sections, but riders with good fitness levels should be able to overcome these without any problems.
Important! Riders are advised to be careful on the descents. The cycle path is used by many families in summer. Trees lining the cylce path provide pleasant shade in summer, but these sections along the Drau river can be cold in autumn.
Handbike rating: This handbike ride from Sillian to Amlach and back is long and challenging but well worth the effort. There are a number of guesthouses along the way serving food and riders can look forward to beautiful views throughout the ride.
