The Golfclub Reit im Winkl is Europe's first and only cross-border golf course: six of the 18 holes are in Tirol, while the remaining twelve are over the border in Bavaria.
The course is south-facing and lies on a plateau east of Kössen, offering fine views of the Kaiser Mountains and the Chiemgau Alps. Highlights include a driving range where taster sessions for beginners are available once a week. The clubhouse is on Austrian territory, next to the four-star superior Hotel Peternhof.
