Buggy-Friendly Walk: Mieminger Plateau

The Mieming Plateau on the southern end of the Mieminger Kette Mountains is particularly beautiful in spring and autumn thanks to its many hours of sunshine and beautiful landscape.

During the summer months the lack of shade on the Mieming Plateau means it is often too hot for walks with babies. This walk is on the eastern part of the plateau and can be extended to match your ambition and fitness level - there are countless flat paths and trails criss-crossing the plateau, most of which are flat and therefore suitable for buggies and pushchairs. Those who want a challenge can walk up to the Fiechter Köpfl and enjoy its fine views. The flat route presented here leads along forests of pine trees, which open up on occasions to reveal fine views of the surrounding mountains. There are two restaurants and a swimming lake en route.

Trail description

The walk starts at the car park next to the Mieming swimming lake. From there, head in an easterly direction until you reach the edge of the village of Untermieming. Keep right and follow the "Bergdoktor-Radweg" cycle path / hiking trail 7B through meadows until you get to the edge of the plateau. Head east once again and follow the trail along the edge of the forest as far as the Obergkapelle chapel (where you can turn off to the Fiechter Köpfl mountain if you fancy a challenge). Continue to the hamlet of Fiecht, located in the middle of a large meadow. Itis here that the journey back begins. Take the tarmac path westwards back to Untermieming. In the village itself, walk past the church to the Gasthof Neuwirt. This traditional inn with a sunny terrace and child-friendly facilities is the ideal place to stop for a rest. From there it is just a ten-minute walk back to the starting point.
