Above Sölden, at about 1,860 metres, lies the rustic Stallwiesalm. It is a popular destination for mountain bike rides in summer, but is also open to guests in winter. The hut can be reached via a relatively easy winter hiking trail through wooded terrain. However, hikers need to be reasonably fit to enjoy the pleasant but steady climb of a total of 539 metres in altitude. For the way there and back you should allow about four hours of walking.

Trail description
The hike begins in Sölden at the car park of the "Freizeitarena". First follow the asphalt Granbichlstraße along the edge of the forest in a southerly direction. After about 800 metres, turn left onto the forest path into the forest. At the third bend, at almost 1,520 metres, leave the alpine path and follow the Windach trail to the right. Now head parallel to the stream into the Windach Valley until the trail rejoins the wider alpine hiking trail. Turn left here and bear right at the first fork. The destination, the Stallwiesalm hut, is now only one kilometre away. Take the same route back. The signposted shortcuts leading through the forest require hikers to be sure-footed as they are not maintained in winter.
