Where there are mountains, there is also water – that’s the way nature dictates. Tirol’s landscape is therefore full of streams, rivers and lakes. From relaxing spots high in the mountains where the rays dance on the water’s surface to impressive gorges and canyons carved into the rock over millions of years, water can be found in many wonderful forms. When it comes to water-based activities, things are no less diverse: rafting, canyoning, stand up paddling, wakeboarding, diving, sailing, kitesurfing – the list goes on. As well as natural swimming lakes, the region is home to a whole host of open-air and indoor pools to cool off on hot days or warm up in winter.
