Attraction Göfelesee

Göfelesee

Description

The Göfelesee is a small moor lake at an altitude of 1,500 meters, nestled in the extensive moorland of Sinnesbrunn. A small wooden walkway leads to the dark, peat-colored water and offers a unique perspective on the quiet, primordial landscape. The moors of Sinnesbrunn are of international importance due to their remarkable variety of moor development stages and the unique manifestation of rare plant communities. They are part of the Natura 2000 protected area and host over 20 different species of dragonflies in their numerous spring bogs – including the bluish shimmering Siberian Bluet, which is critically endangered in Austria. Since it is a protected moorland area, visitors are requested to stay on marked paths, refrain from lighting fires, and take their litter back with them.
