The Staller Sattel pass will be closed to all traffic starting Wednesday, November 19, 2025!

Expected reopening in mid-May 2026.

The Staller Sattel with the Obersee is a popular destination. The impressive landscape, its blooming alpine roses, and magnificent panoramic views into the wild nature of the Hohe Tauern National Park turn a visit to this area into an unforgettable experience.

The Staller Sattel is also a mountain pass in the Eastern Alps. It connects Defereggental (East Tyrol) and Antholzertal (South Tyrol). The road to Antholz is open from May to the end of November (for cars and minibusses only), while no crossing is possible during the winter months.

Staller Sattel pass / Regulations during the summer months:
During the summer months, the pass is open 24 hours! Traffic light regulation!

The crossing from Defereggental to Antholzertal is possible every hour from minute 1 to minute 15.
The crossing from Antholzertal to Defereggental is possible every hour from minute 30 to minute 45.

The crossing is allowed for minibusses with up to 9 seats.
Maximum length 10 m and maximum height 3 m - Tunnel!
