Description
"Jakob Prandtauer's birthplace" is the inscription above the driveway in front of Kössler's house. This was the home of Austria's most famous baroque architect. A stylized tree, a filigree sundial and two saints adorn the façade. A delicate arbor made of sun-dappled wood stretches under the ridge. Hidden behind the simple brick walls is a 300-year-old Swiss stone pine parlor. It has been lovingly restored and has retained its old charm. The tiled stove, the parlor tables and the strap floor, the paneled walls and a wooden "Bankl" are allowed to be completely pure and authentic. Christoph Kössler explains: "Our family has owned the house for generations. It's very lively here, because it's a home and not a museum." Christoph Kössler invites guests to tastings in the beautiful Zirbenstube. Next door, in the building made of brook stone walls and dark tanned wooden walls, he has set up an exhibition room, the copper "small" distillery and also a cozy tasting corner.
