At Plansee, it’s almost impossible to pass by without stopping for a swim at one of the many coves. Just as well, as the steep climb up to the Ehrwalder Alm awaits a little later. Good news: if you’ve spent too long in the water (or simply want to save yourself a few metres of elevation gain), you can take the cable car to cut the worst of it short.
Picturesque stage past the fjord-like Plansee, one of Tyrol's most beautiful lakes with a steep ascent to the Ehrwalder Alm. Tip: for a more relaxed stage, the steepest part and around 400 meters in altitude can be shortened with the Ehrwalder Almbahn. The route then continues with only small climbs but mainly downhill through the beautiful, unspoilt Gaistal valley. A stop at one of the many mountain huts is recommended!
