The 2264 meter high Kuhmesser is a crest at the end of the ridge branching southeast from the Kellerjoch.
However, the mountain with the strange name has various qualities that make it an extremely rewarding hiking destination. The ascent is steep, but can also be mastered by children who enjoy walking. The view from the summit cross is absolutely first-class: over the Inn valley to the Karwendel, over the Tux mountains to the glaciated Zillertal main ridge, and the nearby Kellerjoch with the small chapel at the highest point shows itself from its most beautiful side. The fact that there is often a bunch of curious sheep roaming the summit meadow will certainly inspire the young hikers more than any panorama. And after the tour, the famous giant "Loas-Schnitzel" in the Loas Alpine Inn is tempting.
From the parking lot at Loassattel follow the signs up the steep meadow slope. After a short stretch of forest, the path continues to climb rapidly. However, the increasingly clear view offers ample opportunity to stop, look - and pause. After approx. 1 1/4 hours a sign "Kellerjochhütte 30 min" points to the left into the flank. However, one keeps straight ahead on the evenly steep ridge and soon reaches the summit cross. You can stop at the Loas Alpine Inn below the Loassattel.
