Description

From the valley station of the Rofan cable car, the route first leads past the Naturhotel Alpenblick to a wooden bridge. After crossing the bridge, the forest road turns left. After about 300 metres, a narrow hiking trail branches off to the right and climbs in switchbacks to the Durraalm (not serviced). The path continues along the Durrawand ridge to the Dalfaz Alm. From there, the route continues towards the Erfurter Hütte to a scenic bench. At this point, the Schützensteig branches off to the right (signpost), leading across a mountain meadow and through woodland to the ski slope. The trail then follows the ski slope down to the Buchauer Alm*). The descent back to Maurach follows either the forest road or the hiking trail to the cable car valley station.

*) Sadly, the Buchauer Alm was destroyed in a tragic fire. It is not yet clear whether the mountain hut will be rebuilt.
