Mountain hikes Barrier-free theme trail at the castle head

This themed trail at the top of the castle provides access to all the historical elements of the fortress, which are explained on information boards, and makes the fortress accessible to people with limited mobility.

Description

The new thematic trail at Schlosskopf unlocks the gates to the past: Along the path, numerous historical fortress elements are highlighted with informative panels. This route has been specially designed to be accessible to people with mobility limitations. Thanks to modern inclined lifts, the Ehrenberg Liner and the Top-Liner, Schlosskopf is now accessible to all visitors.

In collaboration with the Forst Group, the Ehrenberg Fortress World has developed this approximately one-kilometer-long path. It is paved with spray asphalt and is largely barrier-free. Apart from a short section through the Inner Tunnel, which has a gradient of 10%, the path is constructed with a gentle incline of 7% to 7.5%. This makes the fortress experience accessible and comprehensible to a wide audience.

To complete the works, the construction hut of the Fortress World conducted fine reclamation work along the path. Plans for next year include enhancing the thematic trail to also accommodate visitors with hearing and visual impairments, taking a further step towards inclusivity.
