Summit tour: Wankspitze
From the Arzkasten car park, follow the path past the inn of the same name. After the fountain, turn right and follow the forest road northwards towards the Lehnberghaus. After about 15 minutes, you reach a junction; before the bridge, turn left and continue along the stream path that leads through the forest. Along this trail, you will repeatedly enjoy impressive views of the Mieminger Range, including the Wankspitze (2,209 m). After just under an hour, the trail makes a sharp right turn and leaves the stream. A short, slightly steeper ascent leads directly to the forest road. Once there, you will see the Lehnberghaus after just a few metres.
Before reaching the Lehnberghaus, a hiking trail branches off uphill towards the “Lacke”, first rising across a meadow and then continuing through the forest. At the Lacke, you will find not only an oversized picture frame but also an impressive viewing platform offering wide views over the Inn Valley and the Mieminger Plateau.
From the Lacke, continue to the Wankspitze. Heading north, follow the wooded ridge uphill along a serpentine trail that finally leads along the ridge to the summit cross. The Wankspitze rises in front of the rugged rock peaks of the Mieminger Range and already conveys a distinctly high‑alpine character. It offers magnificent views over the Mieminger Plateau and the Inn Valley as far as Innsbruck, as well as southward to the Stubai Alps.
The return to the starting point follows the same route as the ascent.
