Many paths lead to the Straubinger Haus on the Eggenalm in the Chiemgau Alps. From the Tyrolean side, it is best to take the cable car from Waidring up to the Steinplatte and hike along the panoramic high trail to the hut, which has a large playground.
The Steinplatte near Waidring can be reached either by car via the Steinplatthöhenstraße or by cable car. Even though the walk from the mountain station of the cable car is around 30 minutes longer than from the Steinplatte inn at the end of the mountain road, we still recommend the cable car, as the ride up to the steep rock faces is exciting in itself. Afterwards, you can hike along the high-level trail via the Brennhütte and the Durchkaseralm to the Straubinger Haus without any technical difficulties. From here you can climb the Fellhorn at 1,764 meters and enjoy a fantastic view (40 minutes from the hut).

The Straubinger Haus is charmingly situated: surrounded by alpine meadows, easily hikable peaks and a gently rolling landscape in the Chiemgau Alps. It is also easily accessible from all directions, including from nearby towns in neighboring Bavaria to the north. No wonder that the modern and comfortable house on the Eggenalm is a popular destination for day guests, mountain bikers and families. A good 60 beds, a wonderful sun terrace, typical regional cuisine, views as far as the Kaiser Mountains - the hut has it all. The local mountain Fellhorn is easy to reach, but destinations such as the Steinplatte require a good day's hike. Crossings into the Kaiser Mountains are feasible with a long day hike.
From Blindau via Klausenbergalm in approx. 3.5 hours, from Erpfendorf in approx. 3.25 hours, from Gasthaus Steinplatte in approx. 2 hours, from Hagertal / Hagerbrücke in approx. 2.75 hours, from Reit im Winkl in approx. 3.5 hours, from the Seegatterl parking lot in approx. 3 hours.
