Winter walking with fantastic views in Tirol

The view from the top of a mountain is incomparable – and this applies even more to the winter, when the Tirolean Alps are cloaked in their white dress. Winter hikes at altitude are unique experiences in nature, where fantastic views – also from many viewing platforms – and snow are guaranteed. The further you get up, the more peace and quiet you will find while hiking in the fresh winter air.

There is a perfect winter hike at altitude for every level of fitness. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, it's best to take an easy, rather flat route like Rangger Köpfl or simply from the mountain to the valley like the one at Weerberg. Sporty types will definitely feel at home at the winter walk at Rauher Kopf, Biedringer Platte or winter walt at the Dorfberg in East Tirol. And if you want to decide whether it should be sporty or fun, it's best to try hike 11.

In winter you can enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the Tirolean Alps wherever you go in the mountains. However, if you are looking for a very special adventure while winter hiking, we recommend evening hike 4, when the mountain peaks slowly turn yellow, orange, pink and purple at dusk, or hike 12, which leads on snowshoes to the Schwarzer See lake.
