Pedal power is the name of the game in Zillertal Valley’s First Region with its mix of easy and challenging mountain bike trails in the Tux Alps, the Kitzbühel Alps and the Zillertal Alps.
Many of the mountain bike trails can be found around Fügen and Kaltenbach, two of the largest villages in the region surrounded by fields, meadows and forests. A good way to explore the region is by riding along the valley floor in a northerly direction all the way to the beautiful Lake Achensee. This family-friendly ride is also stage 16 of the Bike Trail Tirol, a long-distance mountain bike route comprising 32 stages crossing Tirol from east to west. Stage 15 also ends in liegt auch in Zillertal Valley’s First Region. Riders in search of a challenge can head through the Kitzbühel Alps from Alpbach to Zell am Ziller. Just as challenging is the ride up to the Kellerjoch mountain in the Tux Alps on the other side of the valley with 55 kilometres and 2,000 vertical metres of climbing. The region is serviced by the Zillertalbahn railway which riders can use to transport their bikes.
