Bike Trail Tirol Stage 16: Zell - Achensee

Varied landscapes of awesome beauty await you along this 36-kilometer long track leading from Zell to Lake Achensee. Starting in Zillertal you pedal past verdant meadows and cross the green River Inn before you reach scenic Lake Achensee located at 380 meters above Inntal Valley. Enough stamina is required for this stage.

  • Start your tour in Zell and its sunny valley bottom where you also find the Zillertal Cycleway which takes you on traffic-free routes to Wiesing, Inntal Valley. A new gravel cycleway leads up to Maurach on the shore of Lake Achensee.
  • Instead of conquering 400 meters of altitude gain on your bicycle you can enjoy a less effortless ride in the historic steam cog-railway from Jenbach.
  • Zell am Ziller can be easily reached from Jenbach with the Zillertalbahn steam train, offering free bicycle transport.
  • A demanding four of five day loop tour also starts at Lake Achensee – leading from Kaiserhaus to Kufstein, Kössen, Kitzbühel, Neukirchen, Zell and back to the lake.
