Family Ski Holidays in the Hall-Wattens Region

Compact, easy to get to and ideal for families with children, the Glungezer ski resort in the Hall-Wattens region near Innsbruck is a great place for a quiet day's skiing with some spectacular views.

Six ski lifts, a large network of pistes for all abilities, a toboggan run and several winter walking trails make the Glungezer ski resort perched above the village of Tulfes an excellent place for families with a passion for winter sports and the great outdoors. The slopes at the bottom of the resort are mostly easy, with some more challenging terrain further up the mountain. The resort has been designed in such a way that skiers of different abilities can split up for the morning and enjoy the slopes most suited to their ability before all meeting for lunch. Thanks to its relatively high altitude, with pistes ranging from 950 to 2,304 metres above sea level, Glungezer generally offers excellent snow conditions into early spring. A good place to stop for food is the Alpengasthof Halsmarter near the middle station of the Glungezerbahn cable car. It has a kids' menu, an indoor play area and an outdoor playground. Toboggans are also available to hire.

The resort's toboggan run is 3.5 kilometres in length. There are also two winter walking trails which are kept in excellent condition throughout the winter. Both the toboggan run and the winter walking trails offer fine views of the surrounding mountains. Down in the valley there are plenty of highlights for families such as the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, the medieval oldtown in Hall in Tirol, the fascinating Hall in Tirol Mining Museum telling the story of how the town became rich through salt mining in the Middle Ages, and the Burg Hasegg fortress & Hall Mint Museum where the Dollar was born and coins were made over 300 years ago.
