Mountain biking in the Tannheimer Tal Valley is a beautiful experience. Here, surrounded by the Allgäu Alps, riders will find plenty of lakes to cool off in summer. Most of the trails are rated intermediate, though the views are first-class.
Mountain lakes, narrow side valleys and lush meadows are typical features of the landscape in this region on the Austrian-German border. The peaks may not be as high and craggy as in other parts of Tirol, but there is still plenty of challenging riding for advanced and expert bikers. In the west of the region, around Schattwald, there is fine but often difficult riding to be had to the foot of the Ponten mountain. The Mühlwald Trails near Zöblen are for downhill enthusiasts only. Families and cruisers will also find plenty of alternatives with less adrenaline and more relaxation, for example the ride around the village of Nesselwängle on the shores of the Haldensee lake. Long-distance rides are to be had in the Engetal Valley near Grän and on stages 2 and 3 of the Bike Trail Tirol.
