The ski resorts of Ehrwalder Almbahn and Ehrwalder Wettersteinbahnen are ideal for families with children. Both offer wide pistes, family friendly facilities and a cosy setting for all ages.
Families with young children up to the age of around ten years will particularly appreciate the region's family-friendly infrastructure, including an excellent ski school and cosy village centre. At the bottom of the main cable car, the Ehrwalder Almbahn, parents can leave their children – including babies – in the hands of trained childcare experts and head off to explore the resort of their own. The nearby Restaurant Tirolerhaus is also very child-friendly. At the region's second resort, the Ehrwalder Wettersteinbahnen, there is the "Confetti Alm“ adventure area for younger children as well as a kids' park, a funslope and a snowpark for teenagers.
Alternative activities in the region include swimming at the indoor pool in Ehrwald, rock climbing on the indoor climbing wall and ice skating on the artificial ice rink. Those in search of something a little out of the ordinary can try driving a piste groomer or take part in one of the weekly llama treks and torchlit walks. There is even the opportunity to learn how to build an igloo – perfect for the young and the young at heart!
Special family deals. Parents and their children have access to discounted family tickets in a range of combinations. Children under six years of age can use the lifts free of charge when accompanied by a parent.
Children's Ski Schools. There are two snowsports schools in Ehrwald offering courses for children: the Tiroler Skischule and the Skischule Total in Ehrwald. Children as young as three years of age are welcome to join the group lessons, where they will learn to ski while at the same time having lots of fun out and about in the alpine environment.
