The coming home of the cattle for winter in Stubai Valley is a reason for great celebrations. While the cattle is driven down to the valley, stalls are being set up in the streets of the villages, selling fresh farm produce.
Join the farmers and village people to celebrate the safe homecoming of the cows at this original folk festival, featuring live music, culinary delights and cows that are lavishly decked out in garlands of flowers and ribbons. The 2023 festival in Fulpmes begins on September 09 in the morning: By 10:30am, farmers and herdsmen drive the cattle down to the valley from Schlickeralm and Fronebenalm Alpine Pastures. At 11:00am, the farmers’ market at the music pavilion opens, selling refreshments and all sorts of Tirolean specialty dishes. The lovingly decorated cows are expected to arrive in the village by 12:30pm.
One week later, on September 16, 2003, the villages of Telfes and Neustift celebrate the homecoming of cows, too, with the herds arriving in the villages by noon. On September 23, 2003, the cattle drive is celebrated around noon at Brollerhof Farm in Milders.
