This February, spectacular dance performances will take place at Innsbruck Congress Center within the debut Winter Dance Festival.
Enrique Gasa Valga, longtime dance director and choreographer at the Tirol Provincial Theater in Innsbruck, has founded the Winter Dance Festival to support and promote dance in Tirol and environs. The first production that will be staged is „Lágrimas negras“ (Spanish for ‚Black Tears‘), a piece about the Cuban Valdés family, the most influential figures in the history of Cuban music for three generations. In addition to the dazzling dance performances, the festival will include dance workshops and concerts.
„Lágrimas negras“ tells the tragic story of Bebo Valdés, who never could return to his home country Cuba after his flight in the year 1961. After spending decades in obscurity, Bebo gave a late musical comeback with Diego Cigala and son Chucho Valdés.
The premiere dance performance of „Lágrimas Negras“ by Enrique Gasa Valga is sure to touch your heart and stay with you long after the last note has faded away. Apart from this stunning version dance of “Lagrimas Negras”, there will be live music by Cucurucho Valdés, the grandson of Bebo Valdés, and Cuban musician Ray Fernandez.
