From late February through early April, Austrian-born designer Stefan Sagmeister will present his “Better and Better” exhibition at iceQ atop Gaislachkogel in Sölden.
Stefan Sagmeister is the co-founder of the design partnership Sagmeister & Walsh in New York City. In 2018, their exhibit "Beauty" attracted thousands of visitors worldwide and became one of the most visited graphic design show in history. A native of the Austrian province of Vorarlberg based in New York, he discusses large subjects such as happiness or beauty, how they connect to design and what that actually means within people’s everyday lives. His intriguing and provocative designs redefined the status of graphic designers. Some of his notable designs are showcased on the album covers of The Rolling Stones, Pat Metheny, David Byrne and OK Go. From February 27 through April 02, 2024, Stefan Sagmeister will present his ‘Besser und Besser’ (‘Better and Better’) exhibition at iceQ Restaurant, located next to the top terminal of Gaislachkogel Gondola in Sölden. This might be one of the highest design exhibits ever, in the true sense of the word as it is taking place over 3,000 meters above sea level. The Ice Q is a glass cube on top of a mountain surrounded by hundreds of 3,000-meter peaks.
The exhibition shows historic paintings with contemporary inserts, many visualizing local, Austrian data. The exhibition comes to a close on April 02, 2024, with an exclusive "Dinner of the Arts at ice Q” event, complete with a guided tour of the exhibition by Stefan Sagmeister himself. Tickets for the 5-course dinner menu, including aperitif and wine pairing, are available on www.soelden.com.
