Karl Amadeus Hartmann’s opera version of the popular story of the Thirty Years' War is staged at the Tirol Provincial Theater in March and April.

Simplicius Simplicissimus is a picaresque novel of the lower Baroque style, written in five books by German author Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen. Inspired by the events and horrors of the Thirty Years' War which devastated Germany from 1618 to 1648, it is regarded as the first adventure novel in the German language and the first German novel masterpiece.

Des “Simplicius Simplicissimus Jugend” is a German-language opera by 20th-century composer Karl Amadeus Hartmann to a libretto by Hermann Scherchen, Wolfgang Petzet and the composer after Jakob von Grimmelhausen's picaresque novel Simplicius Simplicissimus. The anti-war opera for chamber orchestra was written in the mid-1930s

The chamber opera is put to the stage at the Tirol Provincial Theater by director Eva-Maria Höckmayr from March 10 to April 20, 2024.
