KiS – Kunst in Seefeld art and exhibition center is proud to present “Jesus is My Homeboy” by photographer David LaChapelle at the old fire station of Seefeld from June through October.
The KiS – Kunst in Seefeld art and exhibition center has devoted its 2023 summer exhibition to a display of the series of six photographs entitled “Jesus is My Homeboy”. Art collector and gallery owner Rafael Jablonka presents the stunning work of fine arts photographer David LaChapelle at the old fire station of Seefeld from June 23 through October 01, 2023. David LaChapelle works in the fields of fashion, advertising and fine art photography. When he saw someone wearing a “Jesus is my Homeboy” T-shirt in 2003, he was touched by the simplicity of the message. It made him wonder who Jesus’ original homeboys (the twelve apostles) were—or rather, who they would have been had God chosen to incarnate himself in twenty-first-century America instead of in first-century Palestine. If Jesus were here today, he thought, he would be hanging out with the street people and the marginalized: the poor, the homeless, prostitutes, drug dealers, gangsters, and so on. And more than that, these people would have been his closest and most faithful band of followers. And so LaChapelle created this amazing series of six photographs which are all on view in Seefeld.
Moreover, an additional Tirolean venue shows photographs of David LaChapelle: From June 23 through October 29, 2023, the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum presents “Tha Last Supper” from the “Jesus is My Homeboy” series, along with a celebrity portrait of Uma Thurman and photographs from “Nature’s Naked Loveliness” and “Awakened”.
