Ride to Stanz and its schnapps distilleries

The village of Stanz is Austria’s number one producer of schnapps and enjoys a sunny location high above Landeck. It is famous for its award-winning fruit schnapps and liqueur, in particular those made using locally grown plums. This ride is an excellent opportunity to discover the village and sample some local produce with a visit to some of the distilleries in the region.

  • At around 1000m altitude lie the wonderful Stanz and Grins orchards that provide the raw ingredients for the famous local schnapps.
  • Stanz is one of 116 “Genussregionen” in Austria, regions officially identified by the government as being the source of excellent traditional local produce. Use your ebike to explore the region and visit one of the distilleries for a tasting session.
  • Plums from Stanz are not only used for schnapps but also form the basis for sweet liqueurs, compotes, jams, cakes and dumplings.
