Description

The tour to the Hahnenkamm, starting at the tourism office in Kirchberg, requires good physical fitness, as the path becomes extremely steep in several places. We can warm up our legs well on the Brixentaler Radweg as far as Kitzbühel. Passing the valley station of the Hahnenkammbahn, the ascent begins quite steeply, but the path soon levels off a little. In the shade of the trees, the gravel path leads us continuously uphill. Shortly after the "Einsiedelei", the path shows its teeth once again and becomes even steeper. In the last section of the climb, we are exposed to the sun and can soon spot the mountain station of the Hahnenkammbahn. If you wish, you can take a detour to the mountain station on the Hahnenkamm, but the path leads us further towards Pengelstein. Passing the Ehrenbachhöhe, we lose a few meters in altitude. From the Berggasthof Hochbrunn, the route goes uphill again. Once at the top, a flat path leads us to the Restaurant Pengelstein and the 3S-Bahn. Here we take the first descent towards Usterkaralm. A beautiful descent, past the Usterkaralm and the Hiesleggalm, down to Schirast. On cycle path no. 204, we finally return to Kirchberg.
