Equipment

Sporty bike control and defensive riding behavior are required due to the sometimes steep climbs and more difficult downhill passages, and the demands on fitness and riding technique are rated as intermediate. The focus is on sporty, active (pleasure) cycling.

Appropriate equipment such as breathable clothing and weather-appropriate outdoor clothing, bicycle helmet, gloves, sunglasses, and a GPS device or map material. For bike rides without refreshment stops, sufficient provisions are necessary.

Description

The starting point is in Obergurgl at the Gurgl Carat. In front of the church, follow the path towards Gurgler Ache. Follow the well-signposted paths through the idyllic meadows of Gurgl until you reach the valley station of the Hochgurglbahn. From there, an exciting ride along the toboggan run awaits before you reach a wide forest road. Now you come to a crucial point: the junction of routes #689 Hochgurgl-Wurmkogl and #6053 Kirchenkar. Turn left and follow the path to the Kirchenkar hut, where you reach the highlight of the route. Enjoy the increasingly impressive scenery of rugged peaks and majestic glaciers. The descent leads you through the tunnel. Then you see the newly built World Cup slope for ladies and men. Arrival at Top Mountain Crosspoint, follow the road to the junction of the toboggan run and experience the indescribable beauty of nature on the return journey to Obergurgl.

  • Arrival by public transport

    Travel comfortably and safely by train to the Ötztal train station. The final stop or departure point is the ÖTZTAL station. Afterwards, you can conveniently and quickly travel through the entire valley to your desired destination by public transit or local taxi companies!
