The road over the Haiminger Berg to the "Sattele" at 1690 meters altitude really makes road cyclists sweat. As a compensation, there is hardly any car or motorcycle traffic on this route.
The road traffic regulations apply. Generally valid and usual rules of conduct.
It should be noted that there is an increased risk of accidents and injuries in road cycling. Despite careful route planning, a basic risk always remains. Preparing the tour through endurance sports, appropriate training and further education as well as personal caution reduces the accident risk and risks.
The personal equipment must be safe and usable and meet the respective technical standard. Every road cyclist is advised to inform themselves about the planned routes in specialist literature or on site. Complete road cycling equipment is highly recommended even for experienced riders!
Tip: For the partly poorly lit tunnels, lighting is advisable.
The north ascent from Haiming via the Haiminger Sattele (1690 meters) to Ochsengarten connects the Inn valley with the Kühtai state road and is a special variant for mountain specialists and not an easy undertaking even for Tyrolean standards, as you mostly move beyond the 10% mark. These approx. 1000 vertical meters to the Sattele - the cute name does not make the ordeal any easier, by the way - are tough enough on their own when choosing the demanding and winding ascent over the Haimingerberg. The climb is extremely steep over long sections. This makes it difficult to find a steady rhythm. At the top, as a reward, great views over the Inn valley and the rapid descent down to Oetz await.
Arrival by train
Travel comfortably and safely by train to the Ötztal train station. A local bus starts directly from the station forecourt towards Obergurgl. The bus ride to Oetz takes about 15 minutes.
