Description

Right at the heart of the Tux Alps lies the clear Eiskar lake, tucked away in corrie of boulders at the foot of the Eiskarspitze peak, just inside the Wattener Lizum military prohibited zone. It's an oasis of silence. At the fork in the mountain road from Tux-Vorderlanersbach to Geislerhof, follow the winding, tarred alpine path in the direction of Geiselalm. From the fork on a terrain step on a wide alpine path to the Hobalm.
Continue uphill on the Almweg Nr. 47, with the Hippoldspitze in the northwest in your field of vision. At the fork, after two wide loops, follow the right branch of the path and at the end of the ascent below the Almkogl, branch off onto the westbound hiking trail no. 49. Flat along the slope, past a mighty boulder, cross the headwaters of the Hobarbach and head uphill to the Vallruckalm at the foot of the Torspitze. At the alpine pasture, the sign "Eiskarsee" points to a marked trail. From the junction at the pole marking, go left over a steep slope uphill. At the new route division in the cirque below the Hippoldspitze, the signpost "Eiskarsee" indicates the further ascent over the scree terrain.

Back at the Vallruckalm, a relaxing alpine path no. 47 changes again behind a sweeping bend to the bank of the Hobarbach. After a waterfall the small partial loop closes. The ascent path leads past the Hobalm back to the starting point.
