Glaciated peaks all around and the sky above: once you have reached the cross of the Weiße Wand, which is well worth seeing, take a deep breath and then enjoy magical summit moments.
A superlative summit tour of medium difficulty, which can be rewardingly extended for experienced hikers. The ascent is best started with a cable car ride to the Sommerbergalm or from Kasern, the panoramic tour to the Weiße Wand (2,518 m) leads along red mountain paths via the Tuxer Joch and the Tuxerjochhaus to the destination. The variant of a circular tour via the Kaserer Scharte with short exposed and rope-insured passages is considered difficult.
Correct footwear (sole with a tread, firm hiking shoes)
Clothing (quickly drying, protection against wind, rain and cold)
Sunscreen – ATTENTION: strong sunlight in the mountains! Sunglasses, head protection, sunscreen with a high sun protection factor
First aid kit (gauze bandage, plaster)
Charged mobile phone
Drinks and food (drink plenty of fluid on hikes – but avoid alcohol!)
Ascent with the gondola from Hintertux (1,500 m) to the Sommerbergalm (2,100 m); from there follow the trail to the junction with trail signs (1/2 hour) and continue up the flowering mountain slopes to the Kaserer Scharte (2,446 m), partly on AV trail no. 326.
Hike on the rope-secured AV trail no. 527 (no fear of heights and sure-footedness required!) to the Frauenwand (2,541 m) and over the Weiße Wand (2,518 m) for half an hour to the Tuxerjoch Haus (2,313 m). After a rest, take the wide alpine path or the AV path no. 324 back to the starting point.
Our tip: Attention marmots - don't forget your camera and binoculars!
