Leisurely hike in a varied landscape and on footbridges through the moor. Archaeological sites on the site of the burnt offering and exciting information on the theme boards in the Piller Moor. Recommended even in rainy weather; Familyfriendly
Barely 100 meters north of the Nature Park House, you reach a prehistoric fire victim place. Finds document activities dating back to the Bronze Age.
From here, our hike follows the trail towards Gogles Alm / Piller Moor. After a good 15 min. At a signposted intersection we turn right into the Piller Moor and come to the lookout tower in the moor. On wide bridges, we get to a nice rest area at the well, without damaging the sensitive bog soil or getting wet feet.
From there it goes on to Torfhüttenplatz, which used to be the "hub" of peat mining. Now we walk a nice loop through the peat-turf, where the traces of the earlier peat-mining are still clearly recognizable. If you look closely, you can also discover rare "carnivorous" plants such as sundew, butterwort or water hose. Back at Torfhüttenplatz we follow the forest road in a south-easterly direction, cross the Piller Landesstraße at its end and follow the path behind the small parking lot back to Brandopferplatz and the Nature Park House.
