Hut hike Steinseehütte - Württemberger Haus

Zams / Lechtal Alps
Difficulty ratings: difficult
Route length: 6.7 km
Duration: 4:00 h

Steep ascents, steep descents: Stage two winds through magnificent mountain scenery, taking hikers over mountain notches, passes, rope-secured sections, and scree slopes. At the cozy Württemberger Haus, the hardships are quickly forgotten.

Tour character

Stage two is the most challenging part of the tour. For about four hours, you’ll be hiking mainly on steep slopes and tackling difficult mountain climbs that require practice, experience, and absolute surefootedness. The high-altitude trail coincides with the Adlerweg in some sections. Only once you’ve reached the Gebäudjoch (2,452 m) do you stop climbing, as from there the trail descends steeply over grassy slopes and switchbacks to the Württemberger Haus at 2,220 meters.

Description

This is the start of the challenging high-level trail - along the 20th stage of the Adlerweg - to the Württemberger Haus. The trail climbs gently up to the Steinkarscharte and over grassy slopes and scree before ascending more steeply through rocks and then gravel to the Roßkarscharte. After the saddle, the route descends steeply in a narrow rocky gully (ropes), later descending on scree in the slightly wider cirque. Finally, the route leads steeply upwards to the Gebäudjoch. The route continues steeply downhill on an unsecured path, over grassy slopes and finally in serpentines to the Württemberger Haus.
