The wheelchair-accessible Piller Moor hike leads over wooden footbridges through the raised bog. The Gacher Blick viewing platform, a natural monument and the moor tower, which gives you a view over the moor, can be found along the way.
The Piller Moor nature trail in the Kaunergrat Nature Park is an easy, barrier-free circular hike of around 3 km in length. It leads along paved paths and wooden footbridges to seven information stations about the formation of the moor, flora, fauna and peat extraction. The highlight is the 11 m high moor tower with an impressive view over the raised bog. Ideal for families and nature lovers.
The circular walk through the Piller Moor was made partially barrier-free as part of the Interreg project ADMUSEUM. Footbridges were renovated and made barrier-free.
The Piller Moor is one of the most beautiful raised bogs in Tyrol. As part of the funded Interreg project ADMUSEUM, the footbridges in the Piller Moor were completely renovated in 2013-2014 and made largely barrier-free. The starting point for this easy hike is the barrier-free parking lot at the entrance to the Piller Moor (Infopoint). A gravel path (max. gradient 6%) leads from here approx. 500 m to the Torfhüttenplatz. The path forks here. If you keep left, you will reach the Piller Moor natural monument and the moor tower via a footbridge. On the right, a path leads past a winter feeding station and joins a footbridge that leads to the peat cutting area. After approx. 200 m, you reach a platform with a spectacular view of the "Putzenmoos". Peat was mined here until the early 1970s. The barrier-free footbridge continues along the moor for approx. 300 m. At this point, people with limited mobility must turn back.
