You begin by following the signs in the direction of the Sulzenau Hut. After about 15 minutes, you will reach the fork in the trail in the direction of the Mairspitze. There you have to decide if you want to take the shorter route crossing the Niederl or climb to the summit of the Mairspitze.
If you head for the Mairspitze, the trail continues upwards before turning to the right. On the ridge, you cross a small hollow before reaching the signpost for the Sulzenau Hut. From here, it is only a few minutes to the summit of the Mairspitze.
The descent leads through highly varied scenery, past the mountain lake ‘Grünauer See’. This is followed by a last short ascent before you reach the Sulzenau Hut.
