Wide snowfields, sunny plateaus and rustic alpine pastures: this high-altitude hike from the Bergkastel mountain station via the Stieralm and Plamort leads to the cosy Lärchenalm and rewards you with magnificent views — a quiet pleasure in the winter mountain world.
The hike begins at the Bergkastel mountain station and initially follows trail number 31 past the inviting Stieralm — an ideal place for a first rest and a view of the vast mountain panorama. The trail then continues across the open, high-alpine plateau of Plamort. At Plamort, it is particularly worth making a detour to the viewing rock, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding three-thousand-metre peaks and the Dreiländerbergwelt mountain range.
After Plamort, the route continues along trail number 31 to Kompatsch and then descends towards the valley. The trail leads through snow-covered larch forests and over gentle snow slopes back to the Bergkastel valley station, where the tour comes to a natural end.
The route offers a varied mix of open high plateaus, sparse forests and wide views. Good winter equipment – warm, windproof and with sturdy soles – ensures that you can enjoy the panorama and the tranquillity of nature without any worries.
