Tirol’s Natural Gems in Winter

Tirol's nature parks are a great place to get away from it all and experience winter from a new perspective. Highlights in the region's nature parks and the Hohe Tauern National Park include guided tours following animal tracks as well as moonlight snowshoe adventures.

Leaving the beaten track and heading out into the silent majesty of Tirol's nature parks in winter is for many a pleasant contrast to the hustle and bustle found in many of the region's ski resorts. These protected areas of outstanding natural beauty can be explored on foot, either using a network of winter walking trails or with a pair of snowshoes. However, visitors should be aware that winter is a particularly sensitive time of year for the local flora and fauna. Many animals use the cold months of the year to hibernate and save energy. After all, here in the mountains temperatures often fall to -20°C and below. Therefore, it is important to stay on the marked trails at all times in order to not disturb the many animals for whom Tirol's nature parks are home.
