Ötztal Nature Park

Ötztal Nature Park offers unparalleled diversity: covering an expanse of 510 square kilometres, Tirol’s second largest nature park is home to sprawling glaciers, deep pine forests and a lake environment.

Mountain forests, alpine meadows and rocky landscapes topped by glistening glacial ice: the impressive Ötztal and Stubai Alps dominate the landscapes of Ötztal Nature Park. It holds beautiful and incredibly diverse protected areas such as Obergurgler pine forest, Windachtal natural forest reserve and the conservation area surrounding romantic Lake Piburger. 67 ice giants together represent 95 square kilometres of glacier ice, forming a magnificent high mountain landscape against bright blue skies.  Those setting out on a tour from here will traverse all climate-related alpine vegetation levels and have plenty to see along the wayside accordingly, for example, ferns, wild orchids, various river-borne alpines and colourful pebbles.
