In its 32nd year in 2020, the Tirol Easter Festival is a showcase of different cultures, religions, traditions and art forms. This year’s festival revolves around the theme of “Peace?”
The Tirol Easter Festival will be opened by Salzburg-based “Bodhi Project” on March 27 and 28, 2020. In accordance with this year’s festival theme, which revolves around the theme of “Peace?”, the six young dancers will explore space and time and new strategies for a peaceful together. Apart from dance, the Festival Program will include concerts and readings. Undisputed highlights will be the St Matthew Passion perfromed by Collegium Vocale Gent and conducted by Philippe Herreweghe; “Sarab”, a Nouveau Cirque performance by the Palestinian Circus School from Ramallah and a concert night featuring pianist Markus Hinterhäuser who will play sonatas by Galina Ustvolskaya. The Tirol Easter Festival is among the most prestigious of its kind in the German-speaking world. The two-week Festival offers mental and spiritual food during the fasting period and brings together a wide range of musicians from all over the world to celebrate Easter traditions of local ethnic and cultural origins. It’s a two-week meeting of cultures, spirituality and social commitment. The Festival includes passion music, Early and New Music, along with dance, theatre and performances from different countries and traditions.
