In its 31st year in 2019, the Tirol Easter Festival is a showcase of different cultures, religions, traditions and art forms. This year’s festival revolves around the theme of “heimat.welt”.
The Tirol Easter Festival will be opened by Belgian “Het Collectief”. In accordance with this year’s festival theme, which revolves around the theme of “Searching for a Home – Emigration”, the musicians will perform works by Schönberg, Zemlinsky, Berg und Webern – all composers who were forced to emigrate (Salzlager, Hall i. T., April 6). This theme will be examined in a variety of dance, film and theatre performances. Among the highlights will be the performance by choreographer Wim Vandekeybus’ “Go Figure Out Yourself” dance ensemble (Salzlager, Hall i. T., April 7). The Tirol Easter Festival is among the most prestigious of its kind in the German-speaking world. The two-week Festival offers mental and spiritual food during the fasting period and brings together a wide range of musicians from all over the world to celebrate Easter traditions of local ethnic and cultural origins. It’s a two-week meeting of cultures, spirituality and social commitment. The Festival includes passion music, Early and New Music, along with dance, theatre and performances from different countries and traditions.
The Festival is staged at different venues in Innsbruck and Hall in Tirol between April 06 and 21, 2019. For program details please refer here.
