Long-Distance Hiking in Winter

Travelling light from village to village, crossing through the glistening landscape covered in a thick layer of snow - winter is a great time of year to explore Tirol on foot. Several long-distance hiking trails have been created in recent years for winter walkers wishing to immerse themselves in the experience.

Hiking is an activity normally associated with the warmer months of the year, but walking is also becoming increasingly popular in winter. The trails in the region are kept in excellent conditions and are clearly signposted from start to to finish. Surrounded by a magical winter wonderland, hikers make their way from one village to the next. Over the course of several days it is possible to explore whole valleys. All you need is warm clothing, sturdy footwear and a small rucksack with provisions. The rest of your luggage will be transported directly to the next hotel, leaving you free to enjoy the winter landscape with a spring in your step.
