Description

The route starts at the Salzbach parking area (P3–P5). From there, you cycle along the Leutascher Ache river through Oberleutasch, passing several hamlets on the way to Weidach, the village centre of the Leutasch Valley. The route then continues via Ahrn and along the Achweg trail towards Unterleutasch.

In the Burggraben area, the route splits into two options: the main route continues towards Schanz. A good place to stop for refreshments is the Gasthof zur Mühle.

Alternative route (+285 m elevation gain): Via the Burggraben district, a worthwhile scenic option leads to the Gasthaus Brücke. This variant also offers a beautiful viewpoint and photo spot with views into the Leutasch Valley.

From Burggraben, both route options rejoin and continue along the main road for the final few hundred metres to Schanz, close to the Spirit Gorge and the Bavarian border near Mittenwald.

The route runs mostly close to the Leutascher Ache, nestled between the natural river landscape and the northern slopes of the Arnspitzen and Achterköpfe peaks. Thanks to the many shaded sections, the route is also pleasant to ride on hot summer days.

Spirit Gorge (on foot, without bike):
In Schanz, a detour into the Spirit Gorge is well worthwhile. This themed walk leads spectacularly through the gorge on secured metal walkways and offers impressive views down into the depths and onto the water below. Bikes must be left at the starting point.

The return follows the same route back to the Salzbach parking area.
