Natural Jewel: The Gaistal and the Seebensee
In 2017, this small paradise was voted the most beautiful place in Tyrol in the TV show "9 Plätze, 9 Schätze". The Gaistal stretches for approx. 16 km and is the starting point for many beautiful tours that all branch off from this valley.
Route description:
The panoramic and only slightly ascending forest path begins at the Parkplatz Salzbach and runs along the Leutascher Ache, past the Gaistal- & Tillfussalm to the Seebensee. The last kilometer is steep and partly on coarse gravel. It is therefore recommended to park the bike at the Seebenalm.
The route then continues more steeply uphill to the Seebensee. This crystal-clear lake with its Caribbean colors invites you to cool off. After the refreshment, it is another 40 minutes of very steep walking to the Coburgerhütte. From there, the breathtaking view of the Seebensee and the Zugspitze will leave you in awe. Next to the Coburgerhütte, another natural jewel awaits, the Drachensee. Return to the starting point via the same route.
