Description

The starting point of this varied circular hike is the P15 car park near the music pavilion in Weidach (Leutasch). Ample parking spaces and toilet facilities are available on site. The “Weidach Zentrum” bus stop is also located in close proximity.

From the music pavilion, the route initially follows the road towards Oberweidach. Right at the beginning, impressive views of the striking Hohe Munde open up. The trail then continues to the valley station of the Katzenkopf lift in Weidach. From here, the path first leads right past the Kreithalm and then follows trail no. 3 through the idyllic Fludertal valley towards the Wildmoosalm. The route ascends through a calm, nature-oriented landscape up to the Wildmoos plateau.

Once at the Wildmoosalm, the hike continues past the alpine area to the Ferienheim Wildmoos (not serviced). Here, the trail branches off to the right towards Hochmoos. Following trail no. 37, several scenic viewpoints are reached, including the “Zugspitz View”, the “Hochmoos Seefeld View” and the “Hochrain Leutasch View”. These viewpoints offer impressive panoramic views of the surrounding mountain landscape.

After a well-earned break, the route descends northwards to the Katzenkopfhütte. From there, the trail continues along the Wurzelsteig to the “Rappenlöcher” viewpoint and then follows a forest road back down into the valley. Passing through the hamlet of Seewald, the route finally returns to the starting point in Weidach.

The tour offers several options for individual customization:
• If you prefer to shorten the ascent or descent, you can alternatively park at the Katzenkopf lift (P14) and use the chairlift.
• For a special highlight, the summer toboggan run from the top station down into the valley is well worth considering.
• The area around Katzenkopf also features a bike park with varied trails for mountain bikers. Families will additionally find a playground and a disc golf course.
