Description

This easy hut hike starts in Leutasch and leads via the Schlagweg Trail No. 3, passing the Rauthgatter gate into the Wildmoos nature area. The route follows a technically easy, moderately ascending hiking trail with pleasant forest sections and offers three refreshment stops along the way.

The starting point is the Munde parking area (P18), located directly next to the Mundestadl restaurant. This is already the first opportunity to stop for refreshments and enjoy regional Tyrolean cuisine. At the same time, hikers are treated to impressive panoramic views of the Hohe Munde, the Mieming Range, and the Wetterstein Mountains.

From there, the route initially follows the road for a short distance. After a few minutes, turn left towards the “Weiler Moos” bus stop. Shortly afterwards, a gravel path branches off to the right towards Ostbach. This section is pleasantly flat and close to nature, running alongside a small stream.

After crossing the main road (please take extra care), the well-marked Schlagweg Trail No. 3 begins on the right-hand side towards Muggenmoos Alm. The trail climbs moderately through shaded mixed forest – ideal on warm days.

After leaving the forest, you reach Muggenmoos Alm, the second refreshment stop of the tour. Nestled peacefully in nature, the hut is an excellent place for a longer break.

The route then continues past the Rauthgatter and the Ferienheim Wildmoos (not serviced) towards Seefeld. From here, the landscape opens up into the expansive alpine meadows and moorlands of the Wildmoos nature area.

The hike ends at Wildmoosalm, a popular mountain hut in the Wildmoos area. The hut offers wonderful views and is the perfect place for an extended rest or to round off the tour.

Several options are available for the return journey:
• Hike back to Leutasch along the same route
• Convenient return with the Wildmoos bus to Seefeld railway station with connections to public transport
